I'm on YouTube + Watch my First Vlog!

SO I MADE A YOUTUBE VIDEO...

While it may have taken me a few deep breaths to press that big 'ol Upload button, my very first vlog is now live! I told myself that this year I would try and PUSH myself out of my comfort zone to do more with Taken By Surprise, so I bought a camera, put my big girl pants on and restarted my YouTube channel!

Making videos has been a long time coming for me - SO many of my friends, strangers, babes on Instagram, and really, my heart, told me to get on YouTube, so. Here. I. Am. And I can't wait to start this adventure.

I would love to hear your thoughts and if you have any video requests, please leave them in the comments and I'll see what magic I can work. After all, I love making the content that you guys love to read and watch!

For now, I would love it if you joined the squad by subscribing so you won't miss any of my videos and if you wanted to like or comment on the video, that would be cool with me too ;)

Thank you for your amazing continued support, and don't worry, Taken By Surprise will still be going strong - this just means that I can create videos for you guys as well as blog content! #BestOfBothWorlds

What videos would you like to see on my channel? Let me know in the comments!

How to Take Care of Ash Brown Hair & My Haircare Maintenance Tips

My hairdresser didn't believe me when I said I hadn't had my hair recoloured since my last appointment.

And that appointment was EIGHT MONTHS AGO. #Iknow #girlgotbusy

When I saw her reaction to my hair (which went something along the lines of, you can't POSSIBLY have kept the colour this well, SURELY you cheated on me with another stylist?! #kidding), I was inspired to put together this post on my haircare routine and maintenance tips, because I must be doing something right!

Since dying my hair ash brown - from dark brown, almost black, Asian hair - I've done my best to keep my locks as healthy as possible to maintain the colour. Changing your hair colour is DAMN expensive, after all!

Curious to see how I take care of my hair? Read on!

REVIEW: Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme VS Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumping Glosses

Arguably thanks to Kylie Jenner, plump, pouty lips are definitely in right now. All the better to kiss you with...?

#LittleRedRidingHoodReference

Personally I don't mind a defined, full lip look, and usually achieve it with a sneaky swipe of lip liner, but I couldn't resist trying out some of the plumping glosses out in the market to see if they made a difference.

And if you're like me and haven't worn a plumping gloss since middle school when they were the IT *tHiNg* to have in your locker, they've definitely had an upgrade since my lunch box days.

Two of the most popular ones out there are the Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme and the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker XL, so I decided to compare these two cult favourites to see which one came out on top!

Getting my lips all stinging and swollen for the sake of research? Let's do this!

My Experience With Eyelash Extensions (including Before & After Photos)

Let's just say that once you've tried eyelash extensions, it's reeeeeeeeeeally hard to go back to just mascara.

I've had my lashes done maybe five or six times, and always get asked about them, so I thought I'd put together a blog post on my experience with eyelash extensions!

Curious about getting them yourself? Read on for a rundown on lash extensions, as well as before and after photos, and how I maintain them!

5 More Questions I Always Get Asked as a Blogger!

Have a burning question about what bloggers really do? Is it all just lavish events and free products?

I've been blogging for around five years now, and while blogging is more prominent now than it was back then, I definitely get asked the same questions over and over about what I do. So I thought, what better way to address them than in an FAQ blog post!

The first 5 Questions I Always Get Asked as a Blogger post I did back in November was so popular, that I had to write a part two! So many bloggers sent in their FAQs that I just couldn't fit them all into one post, so here's the second instalment!

You can read Part One here, or continue scrolling to read Part Two!

REVIEW: Lancome Cooling Cushion Blush Subtil

Just when we'd wrapped our heads around cushion foundations, Lancome does a one up on us and released a cushion compact blush!

The Cushion Blush Subtil is essentially a liquid blush-filled sponge inside a compact, which you apply to your cheeks using a little makeup pad. If you've ever hard trouble blending your blush, these pad-based blushes are about to make your morning makeup routine a whole lot easier.

REVIEW: Lancome Cooling Cushion Blush Subtil

Like their foundation counterparts, cushion blushes are really popular in Asia, as they really help create that dewy, healthy and glowing look. Intrigued? See my swatches and a product demonstration after the jump below!

RECIPE: Easy DIY Gourmet Chocolate Bars

Because who doesn't love chocolate?

With Christmas right around the corner, I was looking for affordable gifting ideas that I could make myself at home that gave me a lot of bang for my buck - and I was feeling crafty!

I'm obsessed with the gourmet chocolate bars you can get at Koko Black, but at $9 a pop, they're a little expensive to buy on the reg. So I decided to just DIY my own! These were so quick and easy to put together, and the little gift bags they come in were really simple to make too.

If you love making gifts by hand and are still looking for that perfect pressie for your loved ones (or your extended family and co-workers - these suit everybody!) this Christmas, give this a go - for a gift that not just looks really impressive, but is pretty dang delicious too - bonus!
