Top 8 Perfect Pink Lip Products

When you find that perfect shade of everyday pink, how can you blame me for wanting to buy the shade in every formula I could find?

Some days I want a matte lip, and other days a glossy sheen, but I want it in that every-occasion-suiting shade of pink!

And now that I've found my 'my lips but better' colour, I'm going to share it with you, because this shade of pink is so versatile that it will suit pretty much any skin tone! Get excited beauties, because your perfect pink is about to be served!

The Lip Liner

Every one needs a lip liner that is going to act as a 'nude' base for your lip colour. It's a shade that looks natural enough if you line or fill your lips in for the Kylie Jenner look. This one is super affordable (only a few dollars!) and while it does sit in the fine lines of your lips a little, it is a great base for layering underneath other colours.

The Lip Stain

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 001 Honey

Ever have those days where your lipstick from the night before has stained your lips and now you have patches of bright red on your pucker? Or maybe your lips are a little dry and have begun to flake a little? Ick, I know. This lip stain will completely cover those patches while giving your pout an overall lovely pink stain that lasts for hours without touch ups.

The Lip Gloss

L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraodinaire Lip Color in 500 Molto Mauve

Lip gloss can often get a bad rep - many are too sticky, too gloopy, and not pigmented enough. But this lip gloss is enough to redeem the group! With a petal shaped applicator, it's super easy to apply and the formula of the gloss is buttery smooth. It's long-lasting, not sticky and gives the lips a lovely shine that looks very natural and is very low-maintenance. If you want a more affordable option, this shade and formula is also very similar to Maybelline's Color Elixir in Caramel Infused.

The Creme Lipstick

Sportsgirl Pout About It! Lip Colour in Pretty Please

This was my go-to lipstick all throughout university because it's super smooth on the lips, the colour payoff is great, and it wears off really well so I rarely have to touch it up. Plus, because it's a creme formula, you don't really need a mirror to reapply it because if you're not exactly within the lines, you don't have to worry. And at less than $10, how can you go wrong?

The Matte Lipstick

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in 103

For a lipstick with a little more colour payoff and that looks a bit more 'dressed up' when worn on the lips, this shade from Rimmel London is a great option. Many matte lipsticks are drying and waxy, but this is very soft to apply and the colour is long lasting. It also holds up well while eating and drinking and is a very easy shade to wear, no matter the occasion.

The Matte Lip Cream

NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul

For something on the lighter, girlier side, this NYX Matte Lip Cream is a super cute shade of pink. It does settle in your lip lines a little, but you can really only see it up close. For the best effect, I would pair this with the Essence Lip Liner from the beginning of this post for a truly opaque pink lip.

The Matte Balm

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in 205 Elusive

Find that matte lipsticks take a long time to apply to get that precise shape? A matte balm like this one cuts the time in half because you can literally draw in your lip colour and fill it in. Being a balm, it also doesn't dry out your lips, which is great.

The Lip Lacquer

Rimmel London Apocalips in 101 Celestial

Lip lacquers have incredible pigmentation - they apply like a gloss but have the opacity and colour payoff of a lipstick. So if you can't be bothered with the precision it takes to apply a lipstick, a lip lacquer is going to get you that colour effect with the ease of a gloss-like application. This one from Rimmel London is crazy opaque - almost paint-like! - and is more of a 'night out' natural pink shade.

Beauty By Rubi Shoes Launch - Sneak peek of new products!

It's here! Rubi Shoes has released their own beauty collection, and I was lucky enough to be one of the bloggers invited to the launch to have a good swatch and play with all of that makeup newness before it officially hits stores.

Just check out the rad range!

Everything is under $15.00 (the most expensive item is the Bronzer at $11.95 - practically a steal), which is great for beauty lovers on a budget. And even though the products are affordable, after trialling a few of the products that I got to take home with me after the launch (stay tuned to the end of the post!), they certainly haven't skimped on quality and colour payoff.

I'm most excited about the lipsticks as I'm a massive lippy addict, so knowing that I can grab a few at $6.95 each is awesome news. There are 17 shades in the current collection, from pinks to reds, to purples and corals, and even a black! I promised a swatch of that one to you guys on my Instagram, so here we go!

Pretty impressive pigmentation! I love that it's more of a creme finish rather than a matte, which is much more wearable in my opinion because you can sheer it out.

Below you can catch some of the looks the Beauty By Rubi Shoes makeup artist created and I am loving the bottom right! Even better is that the lipstick, eyeshadow and blush would only total less than $30 to create the look.

Also at the launch we were treated to a free manicure with nail art using the new Rubi Nail Polishes from the babes over at I Scream Nails. Thanks so much to Zinta for my sky blue mani with super cute ice cream feature nails!

We also received a goodie bag filled with some of the exciting new releases from Beauty by Rubi Shoes, and I've got swatches for you below.

Rubi Eyeshadow Palette in Midsummer Eyes - $11.95

The eyeshadow palettes come in a sleek silver case and hold four shades inside. You also get a little dual-ended applicator and brush, though I rarely use the provided brushes in eyeshadow palettes, so I likely won't be using it.

The colours in this palette would be great for a party as you can very easily create a colourful smokey eye. The shadows are surprisingly pigmented too, and very buttery to the touch. My favourite shade would have to be the metallic lilac, which would look amazing as an inner corner highlight.

Left: In the shadow. Right: In natural light.

Rubi Lipstick - $6.95

I unfortunately misplaced the packaging of this one so I'm not sure what the shade is called, but it's the second lightest pink in the range. It has a creme formula and is a great everyday pink. It's very smooth on, though I do recommend giving your lips a good scrub to buff away any dead skin before applying this one.

I also LOVE the packaging of this one - the silver casing isn't just a regular metallic case, it's also reflective enough to use as a mirror!

Rubi Bronzer in Sunkissed - $11.95

I'm very excited about this one because I rarely wear shimmery bronzers for fear of looking like an Oompa Loompa, but this one has a great balance between being a contour, highlight and all-over glow. It definitely has more of a golden undertone than brown or orange, and it would look amazing with a tan when applied along the cheekbones. I imagine it would also look stunning dusted onto the shoulders and decolletage.

Ignore the crack - that was my fault for dropping it (oops)!

Rubi Nail Polish in Hot Pink & Electric Blue - $4.95

At first glance, the two nail polishes I received do look slightly watery, though I imagine they would build up to opaque after a few coats. If you scroll back up to the image of my I Scream Nails manicure, you can see some of the Rubi polishes in action. And they look pretty good!

I also received a few other goodies that are heading into stores with the collection as well, including a makeup case, rollerball perfume in Summer Nights, a trio of nail files and some makeup wipes. One product I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on when it's released is the Highlighter, which I have swatches of over on this post

The full range is currently available at the Chadstone store, with more stores launching the collection from the end of October.

Maybelline Lip Newbies - Baby Lips Electro, Megawatt & Color Elixir!

Spring is well and truly here, and that means the bright lippies are coming out! It's the perfect time to try out some fun new shades, and Maybelline has got your pout covered with their three newest lip products!

From candy pinks to hot corals and bright purples, whether you want a soft wash of colour or a bold lip that stands out in a crowd, you'll be sure to find the perfect finish for you in these three on-trend spring shades. It certainly makes choosing a lip product in the morning a whole lot harder (or if you're me, you end up taking 5+ lippies with you everywhere)!

P.S. Who else is as crazy excited as me that the Baby Lips Electro made it to Aussie shores?! Fingers crossed we get to see some more American releases!

PINK PUNCH

What could be a sweeter shade for spring than pink? The flowers are out, so match your pout with a hot pink that commands attention. Pair with bold winged liquid eyeliner for a fun and feminine look where the lips take centre stage.

Left to right:

VA-VA-VIOLET

Pondering a purple pout? They’re not as difficult as they look to pull off and are surprisingly flattering on all skin tones! Whether you opt for an opaque violet lip or a subtle stain, a purple lip is perfect for when you want to stand out.

Left to right:

CORAL CHIC

For a shade that will take you straight to summer with no effort at all, coral is universally flattering and really shines against a summery bronzed glow. To get the most out of your citrusy hue, try a dusting of bronzer on your features to really help that colour shine.

TUTORIAL: Quick & Easy Everyday Eye Makeup

You know those girls that just nail their eye makeup? Every time? It always looks perfect, makes their eyes all lovely and awake-looking, and a little part of you (let's not lie - a lot!) wishes that you could make your own peepers that pretty?

Natural, everyday eye makeup always seems a lot harder than it is to get right, but once you've got it down, it can take you from day-to-day, from desk to drinks, and will always be the right amount of gorgeous and laid-back. And who doesn't want to be one of those girls?!

For me, I think I've found that eye makeup look, and I'm going to share with you how I create this super simple bronze eye with soft liner that has quickly become my go-to.

Taken By Surprise Tutorial: Quick & Easy Everyday Eyes

1. Start off with a bronze cream eyeshadow base. The great thing about metallic eyeshadow is that it changes colour as the light hits your eyes - so even though you've only applied one shade, it looks like you've put in a lot more effort than you did! Apply using a big shadow brush to both lids.
Used: Maybelline New York Color Tattoo in Bad To The Bronze

2. For an everyday eye makeup look that is any occasion appropriate, liquid liner can sometimes be a little too harsh, so use a creamy black pencil liner to create a small wing at the outer corner, then line about a third of the way along your top lash line. Use shorter strokes to build the line. This creates a softer look that really accentuates the shape of the eyes.

3. I find that pencil liner can sometimes smudge under the eye (yes, even if it's waterproof!), so with a angled eyeliner brush, go over the pencil liner with a black eyeshadow to set the colour.

4. To accentuate the eyes even further, apply a white eyeliner to the water line. This will help the eyes look bigger and more awake. Perfect for a Monday morning!

5. For a little extra glow, apply a shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corners of the eye and extend along the lower lash line. This really brightens up the eye area!
Used: Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadow in Beige Shimmering

6. Finally, curl those lashes to get them nice and big, then apply your favourite mascara to your top and bottom lashes.
Used: Maybelline New York Volum' Express The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara

And that's it!
