Sportsgirl's Whitney Eve by Whitney Port Collection Launch Aug 2012

Hi everyone!

We all know the gorgeous Whitney Port from the fashion-filled TV shows, The Hills, and The City, but this girl can really design!

Yesterday Sportsgirl’s hosted a launch party at their Bourke Street store for Whitney’s gorgeous new line, Whitney Eve, which is in stores now.

The new collection boasts bright colours and feminine flowing silhouettes, perfect for the summer that is nearly on its way!

According to Whitney, "this season is about being comfortable and about bringing the femininity out and just being really wearable."

"I think that when you look at this line, you’ll think, 'that is SO Whitney!'"

Hosted by one of my absolute beauty and journalism idols, Zoë Foster – who by the most amazing stroke of luck I bumped into at the end of the event and had a chat to! – the night began with Q&A between Zoë and Whitney, then a preview of the Whitney Eve collection on a flurry of stunning models. At the end of the collection launch there was the op to ask the lovely Whitney our own questions, and I’ll reveal some of the things we discovered about her as we go in this post!

The night concluded with refreshments (San Pellegrino, cupcakes, mini sandwiches and lollipops – so perfect!) and a Sportsgirl goodie bag! I’ll reveal the contents later on ;)

But enough from me, I know you're all dying to see the photos and hear the fashion tips Whitney shared with us, so here we go!

The Bourke Street store was filled with girls waiting to catch a glimpse of Whitney!
The gorgeous Zoe Foster whom I had a chat with at the end of the night!
To meet someone who is such an inspiration to me was amazing, and she is just so lovely in person!
And there she is! The lovely Whitney Port <3
When asked what she thought of Aussie style, Whitney said, “it’s a mixture of beachy and edgy style.
I also think you guys are not afraid of colour and pattern and texture,
and I think you take more chances than the girls in the States do,
which I really appreciate!”
Whitney on printed shorts - "You can pair it with a chunky kind of wool sweater…
or you can pair it with heels or even some kind of sneakers."
It's a fresh take on the short/long dresses we've been seeing;
this sleeveless shirt is short at the back and long at the front!
"I live in floral dresses because I think that they're one of the most versatile pieces of clothing."
- Whitney
"I love the sherbet colours for Spring/Summer and I think you'll be seeing them a lot in this store."
Whitney said that she gains her fashion inspiration from travelling,
celebs like Alexa Chung and Diane Kruger,
"and just going on Pinterest and typing in weird words and seeing what comes up."
"I feel like our style is constantly evolving and changing.
I think the things that are really staying in style are neons, pastels and floral prints."

"This breezy skirt you can wear high-waisted or around the hips.
It's very ladylike but also very cool."
"The fabrics are really light and comfortable and you can just wear them to anything!"
"And I'm loving cherry red for the summer!"
"Last but not least we have this really pretty ruffle shirt that
can also be paired with a skirt for the 'matchy-matchy' effect."
Whitney’s current three must-haves from the Sportsgirl range are:
1. A floral pencil skirt
2. A baby pink chunky knit sweater
3. A pair of lilac jeans
One audience member asked what Whitney's travel essentials were to which she replied,
Evian spray, snacks (of course!), a chunky scarf and a comfy sweater.
Whitney told us her favourite Aussie designers are
One Teaspoon, Ksubi, Karen Walker, Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim. Good picks!
Want Whitney's glowing skin?
She says that mixing moisturiser and tinted moisturiser is better than foundation!
She also sets her makeup using Bare Minerals Face Powder.
To get Whitney's gorgeous hair, she said she uses Enjoy shampoo and conditioner.
Her hair secret? Sleeping with Moroccan oil in her hair!
The lovely goodie bag, complete with canvas bag, water bottle,
Whitney Eve notebook, lollipops and a special surprise jewellery gift!
I adore my new collar necklace, definitely pairing this with a cute LBD!
So what’s next for Whitney? She said she'll be showing her gorgeous new line at New York Fashion Week and will soon be launching a jewelry collection. If this clothing line is anything to go by, I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

Thank you to Sportsgirl, Whitney Port and Zoë Foster for the amazing event! It was so much fun, and as always, having a sneak peek at new collections is always a treat! That high/low red shirt is definitely on my lust-have list!
